This year we are so lucky to have David and Carolyn Craig working with us to set up our bee hives. The Craigs have immersed themselves in all things bees and are leading the charge to get our pollinators moved in.

I have had bees on my farms for the past 7 years but each time we moved we left the bees in the competent hands of another beekeeper. We hope to increase our bee hive population each year, beginning with three hives this year and increasing as we learn to keep the little critters happy. You never want to have less than two hives, and three hives work even better, so that you can monitor the health of the hives by comparing all three.
With these hives we decided to go with the 4.9 bees which are smaller and produce less honey but we think they will work better for our farm since we will not be using any chemicals in our honey production and these bees are a bit less susceptible to some of the diseases that are diminishing the bee population around the world.
